Asasi Tesl Uitm Lendu

I've been wanting to write this post the moment I got here but I've been super busy with assignments and shit
(pardon my language :p)

First of all, congrats to those who have been offered to UITM, whether you're taking Asasi or Diploma, believe me you are super lucky. Don't waste this chance okay!

UITM Alor Gajah also known by its popular name, UITM Lendu.

I was so excited about the idea of entering university life, no more waking up at 5.30 am, wearing the same boring uniform, having the same tight schedule in school. Gah, I've experienced them all.

But believe me, university life is super exciting but you can get really busy and have a packed schedule especially if you are taking Asasi. We, TESLIANS have more compact schedules compared to those who are taking Diplomas. Well we really can't blame them though cause our course is only for a year and believe me we have so many things, projects and assignments to do.

I'm not going to lie to you but one of the best part of entering Asasi is that you will get allowance for every sem. It depends on the year but roughly you will get RM1900 per sem.

Now now there, don't be the type of guy/girl who goes crazy and spends wildly okay. You will still need to pay for the college and the books. You will need to spend about RM 300+ for college fees and RM 400+ for books

the room

For the new students, you guys will be considered as PART 1 cause you guys are in semester 1

Here are some pointers if you are going to study here

  1. The seniority in here is a little (more than a little) I don't how describe it, but you will get annoyed eventually. Some of the seniors will call you 'anjing' and I still wonder why. So if you decide to go to any cafes, don't go around wearing your matric card
  2. Police bantuan are bitches. I don't want to say the word 'b' but they are. So try to not get into trouble okay. If you are wandering along your faculty, wear your matric card. Don't carry it, but wear it on your neck.
  3. For Part 1 students, you will be staying at the new colleges which are Tun Hasan, Tun Hamzah and Tun Ali. (for personal reasons, try to avoid staying at Tun Hasan cause you will bombarded with more activities). Sounds interesting aye but I admit although it is new, it is super narrow. It was supposed to be occupied with 2 persons but for some reasons there will be 3 students per room. Register early and book the single bed.
  4. If you google the word UITM Lendu, I'm sure you must have been worried with the supernatural rumours and unfortunately they are true. To be safe, try not to do things overboard and don't go around alone especially at night, or late in the evening. Avoid the lake especially when it's going to be dark. Recite Al-Mulk everynight and in shaa Allah everything will be okay.
  5. The food here is cheap and the nearest 'tempat makan' is called Bentara. Every Monday till Wednesday there will be pasar inside UITM and if you are bored with Bentara, you can go there too.
  6. The ATMs are at the main gate and try to avoid withdrawing a large number of cash.
  7. MDS. Ugh! Believe me you're going to hate it. You have to spend a full week sleeping at 1/2 and waking up at 3.30 in the morning. Bring a white baju kurung or in my case I reused my school uniform and bring along your sport shoes too as you need to walk everytime. Wear sunscreen and bring your umbrella too as the weather in Lendu is quite harsh. The key word is patience. You need a lot of patience. Some say that they missed the MDS but hell no, I hate MDS.
  8. Bring your own bedsheet (2 sets is okay) and pillows
  9. Bring your own iron and electric water kettle (these 2 are crucial)
  10. You are not allowed to bring your own fan but just bring a small one as it could get stuffy in your room. A few rooms will have problems with their fans but need not to worry and you can lodge a report and it will be fixed in no time. But you do need to go to Unit Kolej and get the form
  11. You will need to have a bucket to be filled with toiletries (college life)
  12. SUNBLOCK AND UMBRELLA
  13. Rubbish bin and plastik sampah
  14. For Asasi students, I advice you to carry a large bag or handbag as our books tend to be on the heavier side ;)
  15. The essentials ; maggi, munchies, biscuits, fork and spoon, coffee, 'sabun basuh and pencuci pinggan'
  16. And for ASASI TESL, you can't wear jeans or trousers unlike the diploma students. Make sure you bring enough baju kurung. But if you want to dress up fancier, you can wear blouses with skirts. Make sure the blouse will cover your butt if not kena saman lei. For boys (asasi tesl) you can't wear jeans to the faculty. Look into the mirror and if you see that the way you dress up is appropriate for a teacher then you are good to go.
  17. There will be shuttles if you want to go anywhere in the campus. Get a pass as it will be cheaper.
  18. The washing machines here do not accept coins, only RM 1 notes so make sure you have that in hand
  19. Try... try... to avoid finishing your assignments at the last minute due to the fact that you will be bombarded with tests, assignments and presentations everyweek
  20. Make sure you fill up the allowance form and the matikan setem hasil before you enter here to get things done.
  21. It is crucial to bring your laptop as you're going to use it for every assignments and presentations.
  22. Get an Internet plan. For broadband, it is advisable to choose Celcom as it has the best coverage in here compared to Maxis or Digi. For Yes broadband users, the last time I checked, there is no coverage for Yes users here in UITM
  23. Get a driver licence as you will get bored eventually. The car rents here are pretty affordable.
  24. There are buses but you have to be patient. And there is no bus to UITM Lendu from Alor Gajah or Melaka Central starting 6.30 pm so if you want to go out, rent a car.
  25. Bring a large bottle of mineral water cause you need to stay hydrated.

  26. I guess that's all for now. If there are any more tips, I will uodate this post. Stay tune and congrats again for those who get the opportunity to further their studies. It doesn't matter where you study, it's all depends on you, yourself.

    Assalamualaikum.

Man, Asasi TESL Kuantan is better then. We can wear jeans as long as it's appropriately modest. We have no seniors. And though the 'poban' are bitches too, but they left us alone unless we do big problem...
